Bekaert is proud to flag off its first fleet of LNG-powered trucks in India. in partnership with GreenLine, the country’s leading provider of sustainable heavy trucking solutions, this initiative marks a critical milestone in Bekaert’s sustainability journey. The joint objective is to reduce the carbon footprint of road logistics while supporting India’s vision for a gas-based economy.

“As part of our purpose ‘Establishing the new possible,’ and our ambition to lead in safe, smart, and sustainable solutions, decarbonizing logistics is an essential step,” said Dinesh Mukhedkar, Procurement Operations Lead - South Asia and Procurement Global Shared Service Centre Lead. “Heavy-duty transport contributes nearly 90% of emissions in Indian logistics. Switching to LNG helps reduce CO₂ by up to 30% and particulate matter by up to 91% compared to diesel.”

The partnership with GreenLine is anchored in a shared commitment to ESG principles and operational innovation. GreenLine’s LNG ecosystem, backed by real-time telematics and a seamless refuelling network, provides Bekaert with the infrastructure needed to pilot this initiative in Chennai and Halol, with plans to expand after a six-month learning phase.

Each LNG truck is expected to reduce up to 24 tons of CO₂ annually, contributing meaningfully toward Bekaert’s goals of carbon net zero by 2050 and 65% of sales from sustainable solutions.

“GreenLine’s mission and integrated support made them the ideal partner. Together, we are shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future for logistics in India,” Dinesh Mukhedkar added.
